Book for January
The book I chose for January is The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho. If you have all read it already, let me know and I can choose another. I read this book for the first time a few months ago and absolutely LOVED it. I'll post some questions for discussion later. Right now I just wanted to give you time to get the book before it's too late. Happy reading!

I started reading the book today, but then realized that I needed to do a little research before reading any further:
Alchemy = the investigation of nature, a philosophical & spiritual discipline.
2 Goals of Alchemists = change common metal into gold/silver & search for the "philosopher's stone" which is the legendary essential ingredient to achieve the first goal.
Maybe some of you knew this already, but this helped me to understand a bit more while reading the book--especially the preface.
