Okay, I put it off long enough and finally read 'Eclipse'. A day after I started reading it my husband said, "Wow, you read fast." I said, "No, it's a really good book." I liked it more than 'New Moon' so I am interested in what everyone else thinks.
And, I can't believe I am going to say it...I think I like Jacob more. That is, more than Edward. I feel like a traitor but when Bella had "the talk" with Jacob near the end of the book I actually felt like I was breaking up with the love of my life...and I cried. I think this was Stephenie's whole point, to leave the reader torn--kind of like a cliff hanger so we can't wait to read the next book. Yeah, it worked and I can't wait for the next one to come out.

Book for November
The No.1 Ladies' Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith
This is the first of a series of 8 books. The last one just came out in April 2007. One of my friends says she loves these books. I've never read them, but they have been international best sellers. You can find them for pretty cheap on Amazon. They're probably at your local library as well.
This book is available in paperback, has 256 pages, and is published by Abacus.

How this will work . . .
Thanks to everyone who responded to my email. I know that everyone is busy with their own lives so I appreciate your participation in this. I'm really excited to get this going. It feels like forever since I've read a book (ok, it's only been a week). I ordered Eclipse from Amazon.co.uk so that should be here this Wednesday!
Per your responses, we will do the following:
1. We will choose a book to read each month. If you read it, please start posting your thoughts and comments. You can either create a separate post or you can add in the comments section. If you make a comment, you can subscribe to get emails on follow-up comments from the same post. Also, if you are interested, I can add your email address to get notifications when there are new posts on this page. Let me know what you want. There was some concern about people not wanting to be the ones responsible to choose the book & post questions. So I'll pick the first book and then if you have an idea for a book for us to read, then just create a post and we'll all decide. Let's all try to complete the book by the end of each calendar month.
2. We will also have this be like an open forum where we can all add our thoughts about other books (good or bad). That way, we can get loads of information and ideas on what to read.
So you choose how much you want to participate. I'd really LOVE as much input as you can give! Even if you want to just write a list of your recent favorite reads (with a short explanation), I think it would help tons when I'm at the library and can't decide what to get!

New Moon, by Stephenie Meyer
Okay, if you haven't read New Moon, DON'T READ THIS POST.
I finished New Moon two days ago. Then all day yesterday I was stuck on the website reading all the extras. Did you know that she has things on there from Edward's, Rosalie's, and Jacob's point of view?! It is very addicting! If you don't want to get stuck online all day, don't even think about checking out the Twiligt Lexicon site. There is loads of information. Did you know that this series just kicked the entire series of Harry Potter off the Best Seller's List?!
So my biggest complaint while reading the book was that Edward left. But by the end I got over that. To answer Lindsay's question on her comment of Twilight, I still like Edward best. But what do you think will happen? I still haven't read the third book, so don't ruin it for me. But I really hope that she becomes a vampire in the end. The sad thing is, she probably won't smell as good to Edward if she does change. And I guess it would take away all the tension and thrilling parts. So I bet she never becomes a vampire . . . until the end.
Anyway, I loved this book, but not as much as Twilight. Still, I can't wait to read more. I'd love to hear your comments too!
